Convert an Apple Numbers spreadsheet to PDF

Sending a .numbers file to someone without a Mac usually ends with "I can't open this". Numbers to PDF turns the spreadsheet into a PDF that anyone can read, print or attach, with every table laid out the way its values appear in Numbers.

Upload the .numbers file and each table is placed on the page in turn, scaled to fit the page width so columns are not cut off and continued on further pages when it is long. The values are the ones Numbers displays, including the results of formulas that only exist in Apple Numbers, rather than a recalculation that might show an error. Currency, date and percentage formats, bold headers, fills and merged cells come through, table names are shown where Numbers shows them, and the text stays selectable so figures can be copied or searched. Spreadsheets saved by the current Numbers as well as by Numbers '09 are accepted, including files exported from iCloud or an iPad.

Charts, images and floating text boxes on a sheet are not included in the PDF, and a password-protected spreadsheet must be unlocked in Numbers before uploading. The conversion runs on our servers over a secure connection and the upload is deleted within 60 minutes. When the recipient needs to keep working with the data, Numbers to Excel produces an editable workbook with live formulas, and Numbers to CSV exports the raw values of every table.
