Simple page-organising tools such as merging, splitting, rotating, reordering and deleting pages work entirely in your browser: the file never leaves your device. Format conversions (PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown, JSON and back), OCR, compression and the Apple iWork tools need real document engines and are processed on our servers. Every tool page says which of the two it is in its own FAQ section, so you can decide before you upload anything.
Without an account: one file per request, up to 10 MB each and 50 MB in total per day, with 10 tasks a day. A free account raises that to two files per request, 20 MB each and 200 MB a day, with no daily task limit. Pro removes the request and daily caps; the one hard limit that stays is 200 MB per upload, because a larger file has to be split or compressed first. The full table is on the Pricing page.
PDF in every direction; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Apple Pages, Numbers and Keynote; images (JPG, PNG and WebP); HTML; Markdown; and structured data such as JSON, CSV, YAML and XML. Scans are handled through OCR. If a format you need is missing, convert it to a supported one first, or tell us at contact@acepdfmd.com: most of the tools on the site started as a request.
OCR PDF, Scan to PDF and Scan to Markdown read dozens of languages, including right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew and Asian scripts such as Chinese, Japanese, Thai and the Indic languages. Leave the language on Auto detect and the engine decides page by page, which is what you want for a mixed-language document; pick a language only when you know the whole file is in it and want the last bit of accuracy.
A PDF stores where every letter and line was drawn, not how the page was built. Converting it means rebuilding paragraphs, tables and images from that drawing, and a designed page (brochure, brief, invoice) is harder than a plain one. We rebuild real Word tables where the page has a grid, keep fonts, colours and positions, and run scans through OCR first. Complex pages come back as positioned text and shapes rather than flowing paragraphs. Always check the result before you send it on.
No watermarks, ever, on any plan. Browser-side tools never upload your file at all. Server-side tools keep the upload only for as long as the job runs and delete it within 60 minutes at the latest, usually right after your result is ready. Nothing is used for training, and we never sell or share files. Our Privacy Policy and Security pages describe exactly what is logged and for how long.
Yes. Unlock PDF removes a password from a file you already know the password for (it does not crack passwords), and Protect PDF adds one. Sign PDF places a drawn or typed signature. For a document that is still encrypted, unlock it first and then run the conversion or edit you need.
Two ways, both visible: advertising on the free tiers, and the optional Pro plan at $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year, billed by Lemon Squeezy. Pro removes the ads and the limits. There is no third option: we do not sell data, files or usage statistics to anyone, and the tools stay free to use without an account.
A request the server turns down (too large, an unsupported format, over your daily limit) does not count against your tasks; a job that was accepted and then failed on our side does, so if that happens tell us and we will put it right. If the output is wrong (missing text, a broken table, a mis-read scan) send the input file, the tool you used and what you expected to contact@acepdfmd.com. Real failures become regression tests: every fix we ship is pinned by an automated check on a document like yours, so the same mistake does not come back.
Yes. Every tool works in a mobile browser on iOS and Android with no app to install; browser-side tools run on the phone itself. Very large files are better handled from a computer only because of upload time and memory, not because anything is missing on mobile.
