Repair a corrupted or damaged PDF file

Sometimes a PDF just stops opening: it was interrupted mid-download, it came from a broken email attachment, or an older program saved it in a way newer viewers choke on. Repair PDF looks at a file like that and rebuilds it into a version that opens normally again.

You upload the damaged file; there is nothing to configure, since the tool works out what is broken and puts the structure back together on its own. The result is a new PDF you can open, read, and share the way you expected to before something went wrong. Because a broken file can behave unpredictably, this tool always runs on the servers rather than in your browser, and your upload is removed again within the hour once the job finishes.

Repair can rescue a file with a damaged structure, but it cannot recreate content that is genuinely missing, such as a page never written to disk in the first place. If the file opens fine and you just want to shrink it for emailing, Compress PDF is what you want instead. If only the text looks unreadable while pages display normally, the document is not corrupted, and repair will not change how the text looks. Try opening the repaired copy in more than one viewer before you rely on it, since some damage is easier for one program to tolerate than another.
