Convert JSON to an editable Word document

Sometimes the data in a JSON file has to become part of a document: a table in a report, a list of specifications, an appendix of settings. JSON to Word turns JSON into a .docx file you can open and edit in Word, Google Docs or Pages, with real headings, lists and tables rather than pasted code.

Paste the JSON or drop a .json file. A list of objects becomes a Word table with the keys as the header row. An object becomes an outline: each key is a heading, nested objects become sub-headings, and simple values are listed beneath them. Lists of values become bullet points. Documents exported with PDF to JSON or Word to JSON are recognised and rebuilt as documents, so the round trip from a Word file to JSON and back keeps the headings, paragraphs, lists and tables in place. Text in any language is preserved, including right-to-left scripts and CJK.

Very wide tables are better served by JSON to Excel, where columns can be resized freely. For a read-only file to share, use JSON to PDF; for a web page, JSON to HTML. Once the document is in Word you can continue with Word to PDF or Word to Markdown.
