Redact PDF
Permanently black out sensitive content.
Redact PDF pages before sharing sensitive documents
Before you hand over a contract, medical record, or court filing, certain lines need to disappear for good: a social security number, a home address, a salary figure. Drawing a black box in an image editor is not enough, since the text underneath often stays selectable and searchable. Redact PDF removes the content itself, not just its appearance.
You open your file, mark the areas you want hidden, and the tool blacks them out and strips the underlying text from that spot so it cannot be copied, searched, or recovered later. The file travels to our servers over an encrypted connection to do this, and it is deleted within 60 minutes either way. You download the redacted version, ready to share, print, or file.
Take your time marking the right regions. A redaction only protects what you actually cover, so check headers, footers, and any repeated text such as a case number appearing more than once in the file.
If your document is a scanned image rather than searchable text, look closely at what the black box hides, since a scan has no separate text layer to strip and the mark may only be visual. For documents that just need pages removed or reordered rather than content blacked out, a general PDF organizing tool is the better fit. Keep the original in a secure place and only distribute the redacted copy.
